In the last decades, the results of liver transplantation have shown significant improvement. More patients are eligible for liver transplantation, while the indications are changing. The worldwide shortage of donor organs urges the profession for the development of new strategies. With rational extension of donor criteria, more precise organ allocation, personalized donation, living related donation, machine perfusion, and donation after cardiac death, liver transplantation is becoming available for more and more patients suffering from end stage liver disease. Hereby we summarize the new possibilities and challenges in the light of the Hungarian liver transplant program. Orv Hetil. 2019; 160(29): 1127-1135.

Absztrakt: A májtranszplantáció eredményei az elmúlt évtizedekben jelentősen javultak. Egyre több beteg számára jelent életmentő kezelést a májátültetés, miközben az indikációk köre is változik. A világszerte fennálló szervhiány azonban új stratégiák kidolgozására készteti a szakmát. A donorkritériumok észszerű kiterjesztésével, precízebb szervallokációval, személyre szabott donációval, élődonációval, gépi perfúzió alkalmazásával és a szívmegállást követő donáció bevezetésével új távlatok nyílnak, amelyek eredményeként a májtranszplantáció egyre több végstádiumú májbeteg számára válhat elérhetővé. Összefoglaló közleményünkben az új lehetőségeket és kihívásokat mutatjuk be a magyarországi májtranszplantációs program tükrében. Orv Hetil. 2019; 160(29): 1127–1135.
