Articular eminectomy for long-standing luxation of the mandible. Report of 2 cases

A Mizuno et al. Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg. 1988 Oct.

Abstract

2 cases of long-standing luxation of the mandible are presented. Both patients were successfully operated on by articular eminectomy according to Myrhaug's description, with the purpose of both reposition of the condyles and prevention of redislocation. The articular eminectomy increased the ease of reduction and was effective in preventing future dislocation of the temporomandibular joint.
