Redo aortic root replacement for postoperative left ventricular outflow tract pseudoaneurysm after valve-sparing aortic root replacement in a patient with Marfan syndrome
Abstract
Postoperative pseudoaneurysm of the left ventricular outflow tract after valve-sparing root replacement is a rare but critical complication. We present a case of postoperative left ventricular outflow tract pseudoaneurysm that occurred in a 49-year-old woman with Marfan syndrome after valve-sparing aortic root replacement. Four months postoperatively, severe dehiscence of the aortic root graft resulted in a retrosternal giant pseudoaneurysm, which was diagnosed incidentally at her routine postoperative follow-up computed tomography. We performed an emergency redo aortic root replacement. In this video tutorial, we present tips that might be useful for other surgeons as they approach this procedure.
