Lyme disease in Italy: isolation of Borrelia burgdorferi from a patient
Abstract
A strain of Borrelia burgdorferi was isolated from a 48-year-old female patient suffering from a chronic form of polyarthritis. Significant titers of specific anti-Borrelia antibodies were not found. This is the first report of isolation of Borrelia burgdorferi from a patient in Italy.
