Abstract

Aplasia cutis congenita is a rare disease with circumscribed absence of the dermis and the subcutis. Genetic constitution is a predisposing factor; the disease has a variable expressivity. The lesions show spontaneous healing after several months; corrective surgery is seldom indicated. The prognosis is good.
