Tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen, tissue polypeptide antigen, and carbohydrate antigen 19/9 in liver diseases

H Putzki et al. J Surg Oncol. 1988 Feb.

Abstract

The tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA), and carbohydrate antigen 19/9 (CA19/9) have been compared with regard to their sensitivity to liver diseases. All three markers have been found to be sensitive to liver diseases, but to a different degree: TPA rises the most; CEA the least. The sensitivities of TPA and CA19/9 are higher in a group of liver diseases than, for comparison, in a group of colorectal carcinomas.
