fad5 Abolishes crl-Induced Cell Death. The crl mutant exhibits smaller rosettes (top row), larger chloroplasts (middle row), and light-induced localized cell death (bottom row), compared to the wild type (WT). When FAD5 is nonfunctional in the crl mutant background (crl fad5), rosettes are larger, chloroplasts remain the same size, and localized cell death is abolished, compared to the crl mutant.
