Small bowel obstruction secondary to migration of an inflatable penile prosthesis reservoir: recognition and prevention
Abstract
A patient is described in whom placement of an inflatable penile prosthesis after cystectomy resulted in corporeal erosion with a semirigid rod. He presented 18 months later with small bowel obstruction secondary to migration of the reservoir into the peritoneal cavity and its incorporation into several loops of ileum, necessitating resection of 15 cm. of small bowel. The prevention of this complication is discussed.
