Kidney biopsy findings in case 1. (a) The tubules contain densely eosinophilic intraluminal casts with a granular to globular appearance (hematoxylin and eosin stain). (b) The casts are non-argyrophilic and sometimes distend the tubular lumen (Jones methenamine silver stain). (c) Hemoglobin A immunohistochemical stain is strongly positive in the casts.
