Manifold Roles of SA Receptors in Immunity. SA activates gene expression in parallel through the activation of NPR1 and the repression of NPR3 and NPR4, which all require TGA transcription factors, leading to local pattern-triggered and effector-triggered immune responses (PTI and ETI), production of NHP and SAR, and SA catabolism through hydroxylation and glycosylation.
