Abortions and public policy, II
Abstract
PIP: Laws must be made through a rational process which takes into account the public consensus. The practical effect of laws must also be considered. The following effects will result from Congressional prohibition of use of Medicaid funds for abortion: 1) increased maternal deaths, 2) increased costs for medical and social care of the unwanted births, 3) loss of productivity, 4) increased misery of both the unwanted children and their families, and 5) confusion in the health care field due to variations in state laws following this Congressional action.
