Thum and co-workers show that inhibition of miR-132, which is expressed from the miR-212-132 locus on human chromosome 17, results in increased levels of FoxO3 and Serca2a and improved cardiac function. Inhibition is achieved by administering a chemically modified oligonucleotide (CDR132L), which contains locked nucleic acid (LNA) nucleotides and phosphonothioate (PS) linkages to increase in vivo stability.
