Asthma and COVID-19: do we finally have answers?

Katrien Eger et al. Eur Respir J. .

Abstract

Large-scale studies confirm previous findings about a slightly increased incidence of COVID-19, but not of severe COVID-19, in asthma patients. Still, no definitive conclusions can be drawn since many bias factors have not been taken into account. https://bit.ly/34FRfmT

FIGURE 1
Factors that may influence reported incidences of (severe) coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in asthma patients. The reported incidences of (severe) COVID-19 cases among asthma patients are not determined by patient-related factors alone. Also, local factors and the applied methodologies can play an important role. ACE2: angiotensin converting enzyme 2; ICS: inhaled corticosteroids; OCS: oral corticosteroids.
