Unveiling the Menace of Hidden Hunger in Refugee Camps: Nutritional Status among Refugees, States Responsibility, and Key African Strategies on Nutrition
Abstract
Hidden hunger is a current threat to many persons' health and productivity aptitude and even a factor of death for many people. Refugees belong to this category of people affected by hidden hunger but with limited echo on their situation. This paper is a contribution to unveil the threat of hidden hunger among refugees by enlightening their nutritional status, bringing more clarity on States responsibility and finally recalling key points of the African strategies on nutrition. One of the serious challenges in this perspective is the absence of clear States obligations to admit and feed refugees under International Law. Hence, some ideas are being raised to handover this responsibility on the "international community". But the question remains to know the meaning of this responsibility as well as the content of the obligations spoken.
