This study compares how school learning is going compared to typical years for children of different socioeconomic brackets; children in the top 3rd are doing very well but children in the bottom 3rd bracket have fallen behind typical benchmarks by a third of a year in reading and half a year in math. Identifies scale of the problem; indicates that assessment and remediation may be required for many of these students.
