A. Balance between SR Ca-uptake and leak. The augmented cytosolic Ca buffering produced by the enhanced SR Ca-uptake prevails over the increased SR Ca-leak elicited by the enlarged SR Ca-content. B. Imbalance between SR Ca-uptake and leak. When the increase in SR Ca-uptake is associated with enhanced RyR2 sensitization, the improved SR Ca-uptake may fail to counteract the arrhythmogenic effects of a continuous increase in SR Ca-leak during the decline phase of the Ca transient and diastole.
