[Biopsy of the minor salivary glands in the differential diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome and chronic sialadenitis]
Abstract
The authors studied minor salivary gland morphology of 59 patients with different forms of chronic sialadenitis and Sjogren's syndrome (SS). The presence of pathomorphological changes in the salivary gland was established in chronic sialadenitis as well as in SS. However, these changes had distinctive features: total involvement in SS and mosaic patterns in chronic sialadenitis. The authors made a conclusion of the systemic involvement of the salivary glands in chronic sialadenitis.
