Abstract

The Rating Scale of Somatic Symptoms is an observer rating scale designed to measure the severity of somatic distress and to measure changes in research in therapeutics, such as in drug trials. The cues for rating are clearly defined, the scale is valid and reliable, and the ratings change sensitively with treatment.
