[Chromosome study on the Tca8113 cell line derived from squamous cell carcinoma of the human tongue]
Abstract
A squamous cell line, derived from human tongue carcinoma, was designated as Tca8113. Its chromosome and G-banding karyotype were studied. The chromosome number of the Tca8113 was considered as hypotriploid (58-68, 93.5%). Trisomy was commonly found in No.1, No.7, No.16, No.17 and No.18 and was observed in all (25/25) of No.7. The modal number of chromosome was always 66 in each of the nine studies made from the 7th to the 135th passage. In the analysis of unclassifiable abnormal chromosomes, an abnormally large metacentric one--M1 had an incidence of 100% (32/32). As a marker, both arms of this M1 were similar to q. of No. 5 chromosome. This implies that M1 marker chromosome may originate from the isochromosome of the long arms of No.5 chromosome. The karyotype of this Tca8113 cell line is 66XX, +1, +4, +7, +14, +15, +16, +17, +18, M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8, M9, M10, M11, M12.
