Repairing muscle
Within seconds of exercise-induced injury, an annexin-rich cap reseals the disrupted cell membrane, and mitochondria and annexins alleviate excess Ca2+. After several hours, rebuilding involves continued removal of excess Ca2+ and nuclear movement toward the site of injury to form translational hotspots.
