Correlations (Pearson’s r coefficients) of flying insect taxonomic richness with total biomass (grams per sample, A) and total insect richness (B). Samples obtained from three 2-wk malaise trap sampling intervals in May, June, and July 2019. Richness estimates based on metabarcoding (BIN richness); both richness and biomass were log-transformed. The order Diptera includes the family Syrphidae (which is also shown separately), “Others” includes orders of both flying insects (e.g., Trichoptera, Neuroptera, and Plecoptera) and nonflying arthropods (e.g., Dermaptera, Araneae, and Collembola).
