[Egon Schiele and Dystonia]

Abstract

Egon Schiele was one of the famous expressionist painters and ended his short life at the age 28 years. Based on the characteristics of his paintings, it was considered that he might have had cervical dystonia. However, the hypothesis may be wrong. The interesting things are that he might have strongly influenced by medical materials including neuropsychiatric patients seen in Salpêtrière hospital.
