Behçet's disease Abstract. Behçet's disease (BD) represents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for the treating physician. The rarity of the disease and its heterogeneous clinical presentations hamper physicians in easily gaining knowledge about the disease. Moreover, the diagnosis of BD commonly relies on clinical grounds only and treatment decision are guided by relatively few data from clinical trials. In this article, some basic principles for diagnosing and managing BD are reviewed.

Zusammenfassung. In der ärztlichen Praxis stellt der Morbus Behçet (MB) eine diagnostische und therapeutische Herausforderung dar. Wegen der Seltenheit des MB und des heterogenen Krankheitsbilds ist es schwierig, einen guten Erfahrungsschatz über diese Erkrankung zu gewinnen. Ausserdem beruht die Diagnosestellung in den allermeisten Fällen auf dem klinischen Bild und therapeutische Entscheidungen müssen sich an den Daten von relativ wenigen Therapiestudien orientieren. Diese kurze Übersicht behandelt einige Grundlagen der Diagnostik und Behandlung des MB.
