Schematic representation of different deletion and insertion mutation constructs of UmRip1 and MpRip1. The RIFL motif (KHLPDLSRP) is important for the ROS burst suppressive activity of Rip1 in planta. Expression of UmRip1 lacking the RIFL motif shows similar ROS burst activity levels as mCherry controls. However, plants expressing MpRip1 with a C-terminal RIFL motif replacement shows ROS-burst suppressive activity comparable to that of UmRip1.
