Abbreviations: IBD: inflammatory bowel disease; IR: incidence rate; PY: person years; HR: hazard ratio; CI: confidence interval *adjusted for calendar year of delivery, offspring gender, maternal age, maternal IBD diagnosis, maternal country of birth, municipality socioeconomic status and urbanization. In a sensitivity analysis, additional adjustment for maternal immune-mediated diseases or smoking resulted in similar estimates.
