Use of evidence scans in the DRI review process. The DRI review process includes nutrient prioritization and funding, which are coordinated by the sponsors; risk assessment, which includes the commission of a systematic review performed by an independent evidence-based practice center, and the DRI review performed by the NASEM DRI review committee; and risk management, which is the application of the DRIs by government and nongovernment DRI users. Evidence scans are performed by the Joint Federal Canada–US DRI Working Group to facilitate decisions on nutrient prioritization for DRI review and prioritization of nutrient intake–health outcomes for systematic review.
