Potential for serotonin pathways to be involved in abnormal brain outcomes in fetal growth restriction. Neuronal injury is evident in the fetal growth restriction (FGR) brain and has been associated with adverse neurological outcomes. Disruption to serotonin could be linked with these FGR-induced adverse neurological outcomes. Deep purple lines = serotonin projections; teal = Raphe nuclei.
