Calculus formation and ureteral obstruction after ileal conduit construction using autosuture stapling device

G D Webster et al. Urology. 1987 Dec.

Abstract

A case is presented of ureteral obstruction by a calculus-encrusted staple in a patient undergoing urinary diversion. This leads us to recommend that when an ileal conduit is constructed using the autosuture stapling device the staple suture line be excised from both ends of the isolated loop and the butt end of the ileal conduit be closed with absorbable material.
