A systematic approach for the management of intracranial hypertension numbered from 1–7, starting with prophylactic measures (1) through to additional medical and surgical measures (2–7) with the step-by-step escalation of various interventions with the primary goal of maintaining intracranial pressure (ICP) < 22 mm Hg and cerebral perfusion pressure above 60 mm Hg. Visual representation of the human body and the impact of various respiratory/rehabilitation physiotherapy and positioning interventions on ICP. ICP = intracranial pressure; CPP = cerebral perfusion pressure; CSF = cerebrospinal fluid; ETT = endotracheal tube.
