Rapidly advancing pseudotumor cerebri associated with morbid obesity: an indication for gastric exclusion
Abstract
Although most cases of pseudotumor cerebri spontaneously remit or respond to brief courses of medical management, a minority will be chronic or recurrent and may be associated with progressive visual impairment. We have described a morbidly obese patient with rapidly advancing pseudotumor cerebri who had a gastric exclusion procedure, which resulted in weight loss and stabilization of the visual deficit.
