(A) Physical examination of the hand. The affected middle finger had fusiform swelling and was held in passive flexion. (B) Water bath ultrasound of the digit. The patient's affected hand was fully submerged in water. A high frequency linear probe was used. The finger was examined with the transducer edge of the probe placed in the water, held above the digit without touching it.
