Assortative mating among men and women alcoholics
Abstract
The contention that assortative mating for alcoholism is higher among women probands than among men probands is discussed. Theoretical and statistical explanations for observed differences in assortative mating as a function of proband sex are provided. Empirical studies of relevance to this issue are reviewed and various methodological variations and deficiencies that help explain the differences in assortative mating that are reported are noted.
