[The Stark family, dentists for 75 years]
Abstract
In the Netherlands there are a few families that have been active from generation to generation in the profession of dentist. Although this is not the case with the Stark family, as many as 12 members of the family have been in the dental profession over a period of 75 years. In addition, a few were also very active outside dentistry, with the greatest example being the painter and toothpaste manufacturer Elias Stark (1849-1933).
In Nederland zijn enkele families die van generatie op generatie actief waren in het beroep van tandmeester of tandarts. Hoewel bij de familie Stark daar geen sprake van is, waren wel maar liefst 12 leden van de familie in een periode van 75 jaar in het tandheelkundig beroep werkzaam. Daarnaast waren enkelen ook buiten de tandheelkunde zeer actief met als grootste voorbeeld de kunstschilder en tandpastafabrikant Elias Stark (1849-1933).
