Abstract
Maged, A.M., Fawzi, T., Shalaby, M.A., Samy, A., Rabee, M.A., Ali, A.S., Hussein, E.A., Hammad, B. and Deeb, W.S. (2019), A randomized controlled trial of the safety and efficacy of preoperative rectal misoprostol for prevention of intraoperative and postoperative blood loss at elective cesarean delivery. Int J Gynecol Obstet, 147: 102-107 (https://doi.org/10.1002/ijgo.12922) The above article, published online on 15 July 2019 on Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the journal's Editor-in-Chief, Professor Michael Geary, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. The journal's Editor-in-Chief was contacted by a third party who raised concerns about the reproducibility of the results. During review of the study data by the journal's research integrity team, it was found that there are substantial discrepancies between the published manuscript and trial registration entry, including the study interventions and primary outcome measure. A large number of results in the paper could not be reproduced using the dataset supplied by the authors. As a result, the journal no longer has confidence in the results and conclusions drawn, and is issuing this retraction.
