[Organic mental disorders with comorbid alcoholism in the elderly]
Abstract
Elderly people are particularly vulnerable to comorbid disorders. The age-related weakness, cognitive decline, and criticism create favorable conditions for the formation of traumatic situations and is often accompanied by an increase in alcohol consumption, which in some cases leads to the formation of mental and physical dependence. Alcohol abuse leads to exacerbation of somatic disorders, the frequency of which increases with age. Alcoholism in the elderly leads to the accelerated development of organic mental disorders of varying severity. In turn, organic mental disorders lead to aggravation and complication of alcoholism. The formed comorbid disorder makes it difficult to diagnose and provide therapeutic and preventive measures.
Коморбидные расстройства у лиц пожилого возраста являются наиболее распространенными. Наступающее с возрастом слабодушие, снижение когнитивных функций и критики создают благоприятные условия для формирования психотравмирующих ситуаций и нередко сопровождаются учащением употребления алкоголя, что в ряде случаев приводит к формированию психической и физической зависимости. Злоупотребление алкоголем приводит к обострению соматических расстройств, частота которых с возрастом увеличивается. Алкоголизм у лиц пожилого возраста приводит к ускоренному развитию органических психических расстройств различной степени выраженности. В свою очередь органические психические расстройства приводят к утяжелению и усложнению течения алкоголизма. Сформировавшееся коморбидное расстройство затрудняют диагностику и оказание лечебно-профилактических мероприятий.
