Wheals or angioedema or both are the main symptoms of urticaria. The small number of the symptoms usually makes diagnosis easy. What is not trivial, however, is the comprehensive systematic recording and assessment of these symptoms and, above all, their sequelae, which affect many areas of the patient's life. Disease activity, quality of life and disease control can and should be measured before and during treatment in order to optimally adapt therapeutic measures. The instruments developed for this purpose have become easier and more convenient to use in recent years thanks to user-friendly platforms such as mobile health apps.

Quaddeln oder Angioödeme oder beides sind die Leitsymptome einer Urtikaria. Die Überschaubarkeit der Symptome macht die Diagnose in aller Regel leicht. Nicht trivial hingegen sind die umfassende systematische Erfassung und Beurteilung dieser Beschwerden und v. a. deren Folgeerscheinungen, die in viele Bereiche des Lebens der Patienten hineinspielen. Krankheitsaktivität, Lebensqualität und Krankheitskontrolle können und sollen vor und während der Behandlung gemessen werden, um die therapeutischen Maßnahmen optimal anzupassen. Die Instrumente, die zu diesem Zweck entwickelt wurden, sind in den letzten Jahren durch benutzerfreundliche Plattformen wie mobile Gesundheits-Apps einfacher und bequemer in der Anwendung geworden.
