Abstract

Retraction: "Reversible permeabilization of the mitochondrial membrane promotes human cardiomyocyte differentiation from embryonic stem cells," by Ghiasi P, Hosseinkhani S, Ansari H, Aghdami N, Balalaei S, Pahlavan S, Baharvand H. J Cell Physiol. 2019; 234: 521-536. https://doi.org/10.1002/jcp.26758 The above article, published online on 2 August 2018, in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief, Alexander Hutchison, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. Following publication, concerns were raised by third parties regarding Figures 2A and 2B, 4A and 4B, and 5A. The authors provided the original gel images, but they were not sufficient to resolve the image concerns. The retraction has been agreed because parts of the figures were duplicated, affecting the interpretation of the data and conclusions presented. The authors Hossein Baharvand, Saman Hosseinkhani, Parisa Ghiasi, and Saeed Balalaie disagree with this retraction. Hassan Ansari, Nasser Aghdami, and Sara Pahlavan did not respond.
