Following myocardial infarction, cardiac mesenchymal stromal cells (cMSCs) secrete small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) packaged with biologically active factors including pro-tumorigenic miRNAs, proteins, and cytokines. Uptake of sEVs by lung tumor cells heightens their cellular fitness, while uptake by distal tissues predisposes to metastatic tumor cell seeding. Created with BioRender.com.
