The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease–National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (GOLD-NHANES), a race-specific and percent predicted (pp)–based interpretive strategy with fixed cutoff (0.70) for diagnosing airflow obstruction, compared with “zGLI Global,” a race-neutral and z-score–based interpretive strategy with LLN cutoff for diagnosing airflow obstruction. Schiavi and colleagues found that zGLI Global could discriminate imaging characteristics and meaningful patient outcomes better than GOLD-NHANES (7).
