FIGURE 1
Adjusted odds ratios of allergy‐related outcomes according to bST levels: Multivariable logistic regression models in teenagers from the PARIS birth cohort. Adjusted odds ratios are depicted in red when their 95% confidence interval does not include 1. All models were adjusted for: Age, sex, weight, number of children in the household, history of active tabagism, high socio‐economic status, presence of furry pets at home, signs of house dampness (from 0 to 5). Levels of FeNO were also adjusted for current corticosteroid intake, active smoking or secondhand smoking the day of measurement, physical activity or coffee or tea consumption <2 h before measurement, blood eosinophils, any sensitization to inhaled or food allergens. Clinical manifestations models were also adjusted for parental history of allergy, sampling during spring or summer. All VIFs were <1.58. Considered sensitizations were to any inhaled allergen for asthma and rhinitis, and to any inhaled or food allergens for dermatitis. AOR, adjusted odds ratio; bST, basal serum tryptase; FeNO, exhaled fraction of nitric oxide; ppb, part per billion; VIF, Variance Inflation Factor.

Asthma control scores and bST levels in asthmatic teenagers of the PARIS cohort. Grey: Overall asthmatic participants. Purple: Asthmatic participants displayed positive skin prick test and/or specific IgE to tested inhaled allergens. Orange: Asthmatic participants displayed negative skin prick test and specific IgE to tested inhaled allergens. P‐value for trend is from Jonckheere‐Terpstra test. *p <.05; **p <.01.
