Antibiotic pollution from fish farms: effects on aquatic microflora
Abstract
Antimicrobial compounds are routinely used on fish farms to combat the rigours of disease. Despite even the most careful use, small quantities of drugs are likely to escape into the natural aquatic environment, via the effluent. The effects of these inhibitory compounds on the bacterial microflora are considered.
