Defective interfering viruses: modulators of infection

N J Dimmock. Microbiol Sci. 1985 Jan.

Abstract

Defective interfering viruses are powerful modulators of infection which can completely alter the manifestation of virus disease or convert the disease into a symptomless infection. Although their structural biochemistry has been widely studied, their biology is still poorly understood, probably because its complexity has been underestimated.
