Theory of Planned Behavior. The Theory of Planned Behavior describes how several variables and their associated beliefs work together to influence actual behavior. Behavioral intentions are the immediate precursor of the intended behavior as well as the actual behavioral control someone has over initiating the behavior. The variables attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control directly influence behavioral intentions. Lastly, individual beliefs related to the intended behavior, normative beliefs, and beliefs about the perceived control of making a change influence attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, respectively.
