Majocchi’s granuloma
Abstract
Majocchi's granuloma is an uncommon deep fungal folliculitis primarily caused by Trichophyton rubrum. The most common predisposing factors are the use of topical steroids and immunosuppression. In this case report, the cases with similar clinical presentation, an exanthema with perifollicular nodules, pustules, and scaling especially in the periphery of the lesions was seen. The diagnosis is made from clinical, mycological, and histologic examination with the latter demonstrating a perifollicular granulomatous inflammation. Treatment is systemic terbinafine combined with topical antifungal therapy.
