Abstract

Simultaneous bilateral rupture of the patella tendon is a very rare condition, especially in young and healthy individuals. In this case report, a 44-year-old male sustained bilateral rupture while jumping during an amateur handball game. He was examined with X-ray and MRI and received surgery in both knees with suture of the tendon and reinforcement with metal cerclages. MRI of suspected injuries to the knee extensor mechanism is suggested to be of diagnostic value.
