Bubonic plague in a cat
Abstract
Bubonic plague was diagnosed in a cat. The diagnosis was made by isolation of bacteria from a ruptured bubo and by demonstration of an antibody titer to Yersinia pestis. The cat was treated successfully with amoxicillin and streptomycin. The entire veterinary staff was treated prophylactically with tetracycline.
