Survival probability in 280 male lower-grade glioma patients under age 70 stratified by EMSY expression (log2(fpkm-uq + 1). Higher EMSY expression (red upper curve) was associated with significantly better survival (P = .012, log rank test). fpkm-uq + 1 stands for Fragments Per Kilobase of transcript per Million mapped reads—upper quartile + 1. This normalization method is used in RNA-sequence data evaluation to facilitate cross-sample comparison and differential expression analysis.
