The review is devoted to global trends in diagnosis and treatment of liver abscesses. The definition of disease, etiology, epidemiology, clinical picture and diagnosis of pyogenic liver abscesses are covered in detail. The advantages and disadvantages of various treatments are analyzed. The authors estimated various opinions regarding the indications for percutaneous drainage and puncture aspiration depending on etiology, size and location of liver abscess.

Представлен обзор данных литературы, освещающей мировые тенденции в диагностике и лечении пациентов с абсцессами печени. Дано определение изучаемого заболевания. Детально освещены вопросы этиологии, эпидемиологии, клиники, диагностики абсцессов печени. Проанализированы и описаны преимущества и недостатки различных методов их лечения. Отображен диапазон взглядов на показания к выбору между чрескожным дренированием и пункционной аспирацией в зависимости от этиологии, размера и расположения абсцесса печени.
