Due to widespread diseases with increasing numbers of patients, such as metabolic syndrome, metabolic liver diseases are becoming the most common liver diseases of the future. The article explains key changes, including the nomenclature change from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.

Titel: Nicht-alkoholische Fettleber: Neuer Name, aber die Herausforderung bleibt.

Einleitung: Aufgrund von Volkskrankheiten mit steigenden Patientenzahlen, wie etwa dem metabolischen Syndrom, werden metabolische Lebererkrankungen zu den häufigsten Lebererkrankungen der Zukunft. Im Artikel werden wesentliche Neuerungen erläutert, darunter die Nomenklaturänderung von nicht-alkoholischer Fettlebererkrankung zu metabolischer Dysfunktion-assoziierter steatotischer Lebererkrankung.
