Excerpt

This chapter considers the informed consent obligations of a physician who uses artificial intelligence (AI) in medical practice. Surveying the landscape of informed consent law in the United States, the chapter considers where AI might fit within this landscape, and the uncertainties AI presents under the existing legal framework. The chapter then suggests a way forward based on principles of shared decision-making.
